Male Sexual Dysfunction Questionnaires

Abstract
The symptoms of male sexual dysfunction are somewhat subjective. Although vascular and neurological examinations are used to evaluate sexual function, the results of these examinations are often not consistent with the severity of the symptoms. Consequently, many psychometrically validated assessment tools have been designed solely and specifically to evaluate male sexual dysfunction. They can quantify the subjective symptoms of patients using scoring systems. These recently developed questionnaires assess not only sexual function but also the partner relationship and quality of life. They are also useful for assessing the treatment response. Of the various questionnaires, the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5), Male Sexual Health Questionnaire (MSHQ), Androgen Deficiency in Aging Males (ADAM), Aging Males¡¯ Symptoms (AMS) rating scale, and Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT) have been translated into Korean and validated. This study reviews the various questionnaires on male sexual dysfunction and assesses which ones are appropriate for aspects of male sexual dysfunction, such as erectile dysfunction, late-onset hypogonadism, and premature ejaculation.
